Blackjack Chart
Here at Blackjack Chart we’re dedicated to help you improve your game. Blackjack is a great game since you can improve your takings, or conversely minimise your potential losses if you have a grasp of the basic strategies that you should be employing during your play.
As you will no doubt already know, the idea is to hit a total of 21 with your cards, without exceeding this; then the closest hand to this target wins the game. If you’re new to Blackjack, you can read about all the rules and terminology in our article – How to play Blackjack. Our focus here is going to be on how you should play your hand given the cards you have been dealt and the dealer’s cards that you can see (this depends on the variant of the game).
We are able to present a Blackjack Chart since the simplicity of the game means that there are a relatively small number of potential hands that may arise. This in turn means that we can work out the odds of each scenario and how we should play that particular hand in order to get the best result.
The above Blackjack Chart applies to the following scenario:
It is important to remember that a strategy is just that. It is not a guarantee of results, rather a plan where we are trying to maximise our chances of winning. This strategy is based on the chances of the next card to come up. In a very simple example; if we are dealt a nine and a jack, the odds on our next card being an ace or a two are highly unlikely, therefore we should stand. It gets more complicated when you’ve been dealt a hand with a value in the low teens.
The Strategy that you need to take will need to be flexible depending on the variant of the game that you’re playing, but there will be a certain degree of similarities across all the different versions. One thing we won’t cover here is card counting. This technique aims to help you further improve your odds by keeping track of what cards have been played (if you’re not quite sure why this might be useful; say you’re playing with a single deck, if there are 4 aces on the table, and the dealer has a Jack – their concealed card cannot be another ace and so they can’t have Blackjack!).
